Nita Buckley was SCBWI Oklahoma’s oldest member. At age 97, she rarely missed a monthly meeting or conference. The weekend she died, in October of 2012, she was emailing to find a ride to a meeting in Tulsa. In memory of our friend, who felt tremendous joy in learning and improving her writing, we have establishing the Nita Buckley Scholarship Fund.
The money value of each scholarship will be determined by funds collected. The goal is to send a member to the SCBWI Los Angeles Conference.
Donations may be made by check to:
1205 S. Air Depot, #199
Midwest City, OK 73110
(write Nita Buckley Fund on the memo line)
Donations may be made in memory or honor of the person of your choosing. If you choose this option, please include a note with the name of the person you are remembering or honoring, and an address where an acknowledgement card can be sent.
SCBWI Oklahoma will offer a scholarship to cover the conference registration, air fare, and shared room expenses to the SCBWI 2019 Summer Conference in Los Angeles. The scholarship is available for an Oklahoma Region SCBWI member who is not represented by a literary agent and who does not have PAL status.

Again, the submission deadline for the Nita Buckley is January 11, 2018. However, we will cap the entries to 30. That means that you need to fill out the entry information and pay the entry fee if you are planning to enter. It will be first come, first serve. However, once your entry submission is acknowledged, you have until January 11 to provide us the first five pages or PB manuscript.
