Nita Buckley was SCBWI Oklahoma’s oldest member. At age 97, she rarely missed a monthly meeting or conference. The weekend she died, in October of 2012, she was emailing to find a ride to a meeting in Tulsa. In memory of our friend, who felt tremendous joy in learning and improving her writing, we have establishing the Nita Buckley Scholarship Fund. Donations will be used to send a SCBWI Oklahoma Chapter member to a national conference and donations can be made in honor of someone.
Congratulations to Ginny Sain for winning the 2019 Scholarship!
The money value of each scholarship will be determined by funds collected. The goal is to cover the conference registration, air fare, and shared room expenses to a future SCBWI Summer Conference in Los Angeles. The scholarship is available for an Oklahoma Region SCBWI member who is not represented by a literary agent and who does not have PAL status.
