Please note that editors from houses open only to agented submissions will accept manuscripts from our attendees on a limited basis.

CRITIQUES AND PITCHES:  A limited number of pitches, manuscript critiques, and portfolio critiques may be purchased for an additional cost.

Manuscripts Critiques: A limited number of writers will receive a written critique from an editor or agent. Manuscripts of ten pages or less are sent in advance and written critiques will be returned at the end of the conference.


bulletBlue  Manuscript deadline is February 14th. To hold your place fees must be paid before the deadline.
bulletBlue  Authors of a few manuscripts, selected by the critiquers, will have a ten-minute meeting during the conference with the editor or agent who critiqued the manuscript.  
bulletBlue  Send the first ten pages of longer works and all of picture books. No more than one manuscript per payment may be sent even if your picture book is shorter than ten pages. Double space all submissions.
bulletBlue Indicate on the top of the first page whether your manuscript is a picture book, non-fiction picture book, easy reader, chapter book, middle grade novel, young adult novel, or non-fiction book for older readers
bulletBlue forty-word plot summary may be printed at the beginning of longer manuscripts. Do not send a synopsis.
bulletBlue Manuscripts must arrive to the following address before February 14th

bulletBlue Email confirmations will be sent.
bulletBlue No mail requiring a signature or emailed manuscripts will be accepted.
bulletBlue Writers may not request a certain speaker to do the critique, but you may inform us with a note attached to your manuscript if a speaker has already seen your manuscript.

Pitches: The first fifteen people who register and sign up for a pitch will have a private ten-    minute agent session. Be prepared to have a conversation based on a forty-word pitch. Pitches are Full and CLOSED.

Critiques are Full and CLOSED.

Portfolio Critiques: CLOSED – Kristine Brogno (Chronicle Books) will do twelve paid art critiques during the conference. 

After viewing portfolios, Rachel Orr, agent with Prospect Agency, will choose one or two illustrators with whom she would like to meet face-to-face. Illustrators do not have to pay for a critique to display their portfolios.

CONFERENCE PAYMENTS: Those paying by check may pay in full or in two parts.  The first half is due on registration. Second half must be paid by March 15th.

SCBWI Member    $l50.
Non-Member    $200.
Manuscript Critique    $40.
 Pitch    $40.
Art Portfolio Critique    $40.

REFUNDS: No refunds for registration after March 1st. No refunds at all for registrations that include critiques or pitches.

HOTEL INFORMATION: A room rate of $89.00 for two people may be secured directly with the hotel until March 25th by asking for the SCBWI rate. Call 918-492-5000. This DOES NOT include breakfast.
